Bois Locker Room is extremely offensive but Misogyny on Social Media thrives every day and we need to talk 

There I was shocked to check some other complaints claiming that they got such advertisements in their feed even when they were using underage accounts! And I was like how can they allow campaigns of such kind of advertisement to target underage teens and children as their audience!

According to me, this advertisement has the utmost potential of impacting the psychology of its viewers especially underage boys in a highly negative way. The message conveys two disrespectful things – girls are present on social media just to chat with random boys and have no other purpose to make an online presence. Like one of the complaints mentioned a similar advertisement with different text reading “I am here because my husband can’t make me happy”. And the second message is that girls who wear short dresses are of loose morals and are inviting online harassment on themselves because of the choice of the clothes they wear.

This kind of B-grade advertisement impacts the psychology of males and makes them feel entitled to slide into DMs of random girls thinking they are there for the sole reason to entertain them and for accepting their unwanted friend requests, exchange private numbers, and for getting sexually abused. An Assitant Professor of psychology at DU told how she has now stopped checking her inbox on Instagram completely because she does not know what degree of the sexually explicit and sexually abusive message it might contain which can affect her mental health badly.
