In a special one day assembly by the ruling party AAP on Friday, 13th March a resolution was passed against the rolling of NPR and NRC taking into account the combined effect of NPR, NRC and CAA and the large-scale fear and panic among the general public about the same.
Delhi became the 11th state/Union Territory to pass a resolution against the NPR and the NRC. The others include Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Punjab, Bihar, and Puducherry.
Asserting that, the general public would be the biggest sufferer, Gopal Rai, Cabinet Minister for Delhi and AAP party leader headed the resolution. This resolution was opposed by BJP. Rai urged the centre to focus on the real needs of the nation in the middle of a crumbling economy, worst ever downslide in the stock market, all-time high unemployment rate, not to mention the global Covid-19 pandemic.
