
Manipur Violence: Modi Gives Update in I-Day Speech
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the situation in Manipur is improving and that India stands with the people of the violence-hit northeastern state.
Modi, who addressed the nation from the Red Fort on the occasion of 77th Independence Day, said that the Centre and the state government are making all efforts to find a resolution to the violence.
He also spoke on crimes against women in Manipur, saying that only peace can lead to a solution.
The prime minister said that the nation is with the people of Manipur and that the country should take forward the peace process which has been set in motion by the people of the state.
He also greeted people on Independence Day and paid homage to freedom fighters.
In addition to the security arrangements at the Red Fort, traffic has also been restricted in the area.
