Well, several Mr.Bean animated episodes reveal that Mr.Bean possesses a few traits of Sheldon Cooper. He might find difficulties in doing the simplest of everyday tasks but he is good at doing them in a complex way.

He can also be technically innovative like making a machine to wake himself up from sleep at the time he wants to. So according to me, he would no longer be touching teddy and would have made equipment to carry his darling teddy maintaining a proper physical distance with him when he needed to go out and he might have been more innovative in these times and probably made an artificial robot hand for himself to control the teddy.

Also, he would be getting offended and making faces at the people who would try to get slightly closer to him and behaving to be infected just because someone who went past him sneezed only to discover later in the episode that he had not contacted any disease as we had been at a good amount of distance from the guy who sneezed and he is just a real skeptic aggregating the things as a part of his eccentric personality.
