The Coronavirus Pandemic Lesson to World: Leadership Matters

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan let an Islamic preacher make derogatory remarks on Women in front of him during a telethon to generate funds, blaming loose morals and immodesty of women to be the cause of the virus spread showing that there was no sense left in Pakistan.

An ineffective leadership by the government makes its citizens divided and drawn to protest measures. In the US, people are protesting against the social distancing measures, in Germany also people demonstrated against the lockdown measures calling for the government to end it. Russian citizens too opposed and protested the government’s lockdown measures. In Brazil, President Bolsonaro who had denied to believe the coronavirus was any real threat to the lives of his citizens joined an anti-lockdown protest himself which was imposed by his health ministry, while breaching all kinds of preventive measures!

The one thing that the international community can learn from the case of handling Coronavirus by India and other foreign nations is that Leadership Matters and a strong leader, not just a strong economy makes a strong nation. Strong and effective leadership can unify its citizens as a cohesive nation to fight it’s national battles with national solidarity while an ineffective leadership can make things worse for a nation during a national calamity or emergency.  Strong Leadership is a core of a Strong Nation.
