PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone of Shiva-Themed International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone of an international cricket stadium in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency. The stadium will be built at a cost of Rs 450 crore and will be dedicated to Lord Shiva, with its design incorporating elements such as a crescent-shaped roof, trident-shaped floodlights, and structures resembling a ‘damru’ and bel leaves.
Speaking at the event, PM Modi said that the stadium will become the star of the Purvanchal region and will benefit local sportspersons and the economy. He also highlighted how the government is now building well-equipped stadiums in even remote places, so that players from all over the country can have access to world-class facilities.
The Varanasi International Cricket Stadium will have a seating capacity of 30,000 spectators and is expected to be completed within two years. It will be the first international cricket stadium in the Purvanchal region and will be a major boost for the development of cricket in the region.
The event was attended by several cricketing legends, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar. They all expressed their excitement about the new stadium and said that it will be a great asset for Indian cricket.
The construction of the Varanasi International Cricket Stadium is a major step towards fulfilling PM Modi’s vision of developing modern world-class sports infrastructure in India.
