Coronavirus might be the last nail in the coffin of US Hegemony
Japan and the US have already devised plans to incentivize or force their country’s international businesses to move from China to other parts of the world. China can be now isolated from the global economy and the global countries will likely refrain from having any future trade deals with China.
A multi-polar order is likely to emerge post-coronavirus crisis where a few mega countries would become key players of the International System of World Order and India is one of them. India can benefit from the opportunities created by the Coronavirus Crisis and can formulate ways to attract the businesses that will move out of China now, to invest in India.
Trade deals from China can move to India and India can potentially increase its exports to other countries. All it is possible only when India keeps a stronghold on virus spread in its nation right now and does not let the pandemic affect India like other countries. An extended lockdown thus appears to be a judicious decision in the present scenario to protect India’s both short term and long term interests.
