Coronavirus might be the last nail in the coffin of US Hegemony
“I would be surprised if that were his (PM Modi) decision. He’d have to tell me that. I spoke to him Sunday morning, called him, and I said we’d appreciate your allowing our supply to come out. If he doesn’t allow it (Hydroxychloroquine medical drug) to come out, that would be okay, but of course, there may be retaliation. Why wouldn’t there be?”
The hypocrisy of Trump’s comment on retaliation is that the US has itself banned the export of Hygiene Masks to other countries. While he is whining over how the World Health Organisation is not being Fair to America, he himself is forgetting, if he believes in a just International Law, there can’t be two laws – one for America and others for the rest of the world in International World Politics.
It’s preposterous of him for asking medical aid from India on Humanitarian grounds where he himself is failing humanity with his decision of banning exports of Hygiene Masks to other countries except for Canada and Latin America. While many may argue that America needs medical stock supplies more than India because it is in the worst condition during this Pandemic. I would maintain my contrarian view. That argument to me is hogwash, as there is a wide hiatus between how India and the US have worked out to contain the spread of coronavirus.
